Hello Everyone! I'm Layla Joseph, a student at Slippery Rock University. I am currently studying to get a Bachelors degree in Communication with a concentration of Converged Journalism. I am currently a junior at SRU, planning to graduate in May of 2023.
I am not only a student at Slippery Rock. As of 2020, Slippery Rock, PA became my home. My love for this community is as strong as my love for writing.
I have decided to create this blog to explore more formats of media, specifically the digital kind. In the technological age that we live in, media, like technology, changes rapidly. I hope to adapt and advance my writing skills so that I feel confident writing for any medium. "Rock Talk" will feature articles that are relevant to Slippery Rock, PA, or interesting to those who live in or just outside of the community.

There is something extremely gratifying about physically holding a piece of media: no ads or pop-ups asking you for cookies, no distractions. Just you and a some paper with words that hold meaning. My favorite traditional news media outlet would be the New Castle News. Founded in 1880, the New Castle News has been pushing out papers Monday - Saturday to the people of Lawrence County, PA. For generations my family has lived in New Castle, and reading the paper with my grandfather was a staple in my childhood.
When it comes to new media, I am a big fan of podcasts. I love Crime Junkies, a podcast that talks about True Crime. National Public Radio, or NPR, would have to be my favorite digital media. NPR is a great resource for Self-Help podcasts and articles, as well as a great place to find unbias news instantly.
I hope that you follow along and enjoy the content I create!
