Walk It Off

After a cold and gloomy winter, and even gloomier rumors of World War III, it’s important to know when to unplug from your phone and get outdoors. If you are anything like myself, you have probably been taking in every detail that you can about what is happening in Ukraine right now. I have been glued to my phone reading updates, watching Ukrainian citizens post on Snapchat, and translating Russian. In my lifetime, we have had multiple rumors of “World War III” but none have seemed as detrimental as this.
The other day, I realized that I had taken in too much and that all of this information has peaked my anxiety. It is important to be an informed citizen, but it’s also good to take care of your mental health. You alone cannot stop what is happening in Ukraine. What you can do is go outside, take a breath of fresh air, get rid of nervous energy, and enjoy the beauties of our community while we still have them.
Luckily enough for the locals of Butler County, there are plenty of spaces that cost nothing and allow you to get out of your house and out of your head. A map of my favorite spots in Slippery Rock can be found here!
