Main Street in Slippery Rock was closed Saturday for the borough's annual Light Up Night celebration. The event, which took place downtown, featured a Christmas Market with various food and craft vendors from all over the area.
Free cookies, popcorn, hot dogs, and hot chocolates were available amongst the vendors, many of which also gave out candy. Despite the cold and windy weather, some vendors still went above and beyond in their displays.
Santa made his rounds up and down the decorated Main Street to say hello to community members before making his way to the Gazebo in Midway Park to take photos with the children.
Vendors featured in the video above include (in order of appearance): Boys Scouts of America Troop 310, Hutch Krafts, SR Cell & Computer Repair, Dark Rose Alpacas, and Breezy Ridge Acres.
Addison Lewis, a fourth grader at Pottsville Christian School, might've been the youngest vendor in attendance Saturday.
Addy's Bakery sold a variety of sweet treats and was raising money so that she can travel with the Pittsburgh Youth Choir to a festival in London next year.
Along with sales from Addy's Bakery, Addison and her family have been fundraising for the trip by collecting sponsorships to get her across The Pond.
The festival hosted events throughout the night for everyone in the community to enjoy. Slippery Rock Elementary school students took to the grass lot next to Midway Park. They performed Christmas carols before the lighting of Ginger Hill Tavern's Christmas tree, where Santa made his last appearance before his photo shoot at the pavilion.
Ginger Hill Tavern broadcasted a live playing of "Home Alone" and passed out popcorn free of charge, and Slippery Rock Giant Eagle sponsored horse and carriage rides from Misty Lane Farms.
The Ginger Hill tree was not the only evergreen ready for Christmas. This year, Rooster's, the town's new coffee shop, hosted the annual tree decorating contest!
Community members were invited to decorate a small Christmas tree and enter it into the contest, where judges crowned a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.
The winner's have been announced and a full gallery of the entered Christmas trees can be found on Slippery Rock in Bloom's Facebook page.
If you missed out on seeing the decorated trees, they will be displayed at NexTeir bank for the remainder of the holiday season.
The Slippery Rock Borough has again brought excitement and community involvement into downtown Slippery Rock, a holiday tradition that is enjoyed by many.
