Students of Slippery Rock University gathered together in the Smith Student Center ballroom Friday night to celebrate the school’s birthday from 7-10 PM.
SRU’s Green and White Society hosted an event to celebrate the university’s 133rd birthday and also raise awareness of SRU Giving Day, an event held by the university to help student run clubs and organizations get additional funding.
Laughter and music filled the ballroom as people were dancing, waiting in line, eating cupcakes, and playing games, all with colorful party hats on, of course.
The activities included a caricature artist, a tarot card reader, games, a photo booth, and a balloon artist to keep the students entertained.
Courtney Sage is an energy worker and a professional tarot reader! Here, she is sharing her wisdom with SRU students.
From hats to animals, Quin McLaughlin does it all! Quin is an SRU alumni and has been in the spotlight before for his creative balloon art.

Laura Moyer is a senior at SRU, studying industrial and systems engineering. She told me that since it was her senior year, she has been going to as many events as possible this semester.
"I like that they had a variety of games and events," Laura said. "I've met the caricature artist at another event, so I'm glad he came back for others since his art is amazing."

Megan Walsh said that she loves the university and celebrating its birthday "feels as special as her own!"
