Writing

Pittsburgh Downtown Neighbors Alliance

To complete my studies at Slippery Rock University I was required to demonstrate my skills and practice in a professional environment. I contributed about four articles a week to Downtown Neighborhood Alliance (DNA).

Through this internship, I became comfortable reporting on businesses and events I was unfamiliar with, gained confidence interviewing over the phone and got to break into a more creative writing mode.

I started this internship in May 2023 and although I finished the internship in July, I now contribute to the weekly newsletter as a staff writer.

New Castle News

I have been and will continue to work on assignments as a freelance writer for the New Castle News.

The Butler Eagle

In Advanced Writing and Reporting I spent time researching a Butler County family's legacy at the genealogy center in the Butler County's Public Library. After researching the Schnur family, I went to their greenhouse to interview the current owner, Jim. This story was featured in the Butler Eagle's America 250 series.

The Rocket

I accepted the position of Assistant News Editor for SRU's award-winning publication, The Rocket.

The Rocket has allowed me to build stronger ties with community members and gives me a larger platform to share stories that impact Slippery Rock. I attended SRU student government meetings, Slippery Rock Borough Council meetings and Slippery Rock Area School Board meetings to create content that is relevant to my audience.

Before taking the position of Assistant News Editor I was a contributing writer where I wrote sports under Tyler Howe.

Rock Talk

Before accepting my position at The Rocket, I wrote stories about the college and community on my personal blog Rock Talk.

I have interviewed community members and local government, covered stories in Butler County  and created resources for residents of Slippery Rock.

The Titusville Herald

The Titusville Herald served Crawford County for over 150 years. In 2022, the Titusville Herald closed and deleted their website. Two pieces of my writing were recovered from a classmate's scrapbook.
